What Will You Grow Up to Be?
Provide each child with a piece of paper and some crayons or markers. Ask them to draw a picture of something new they’d like to learn or a job they’d like to have when they grow up. Their parents can help them write a sen­tence or two describing their pictures.

Act It Out!
Play charades at your program! Ask children and/or their parents to take turns silently acting out a job (i.e., fire fighter, mail carrier, hair dresser, artist, chef). The other children and parents can guess what each actor is doing and name the job.

Whose Tool Is This?
Give verbal clues, show pictures from magazines, or hold up props used in different occupations (police hat, chef’s hat, paintbrush, toy fire truck, library book, hammer, letter, etc.). Ask the children to name the object or picture and identify the job associated with the prop or picture. This is a great way for children to practice vocabulary!
