Literary Criticism in Periodicals
The EBSCO Host Magazine Database
The EBSCO Host Magazine Database is an online index to magazine and other periodical articles. Most helpful to researchers of literary criticism are the MasterFILE and Academic Search indexes, which provides access to articles in popular magazines and journals, and the Newspaper Source, which indexes selected U.S. newspapers.
When searching EBSCO Host by subject, enter the author's surname, or last name, followed by the personal, or first, name.
ex. angelou, maya

Advanced Research Using Humanities Index.
The Humanities Index is a printed index available in the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Reference Services. The index provides references to articles in scholarly journals. Simply look up the name of an author (last name first!) for biographical information or criticism. You may also use Humanities Index to look up a subject (ex. Spanish Literature). Really Advanced Research Using MLA International Bibliography
Not for the faint-hearted!
The MLA International Bibliography is an extensive subject/author index to books and articles in the areas of language, linguistics, and folklore. Indexed are critical works in any language or format. Because the MLA International Bibliography is meant for intensive, high level research in the subjects previously noted, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh owns only a small percentage of the resources listed in the work. However, researchers interested in materials not available at CLP may request items through Interlibrary Loan. Please see any member of the Humanities Reference Staff for more information about this service. Click here for a sample citation.
