This book was first published in Britain as Tender, Volume II: A Cook's Guide to the Fruit Garden, a followup to Tender: A Cook and His Vegetable Patch. The first thing that impresses about this books is its size (581 pages) and it's not even published by Phaidon! The British author deals with fruit that he grows in his own garden and so there are some less common fruits like gooseberries, quinces and currants and also nuts (chestnuts, walnuts and hazelnuts) but only of course only fruits and nuts that grow in Britain. The recipes are quite British (treacle tart, summer fruit puddings) and so the book is a refreshing change. It offers recipes for savory dishes as well as desserts.

  • Fruits and Veggies Matter
