A Collection of Best of 2010 Lists

Everyone seems to compile a best of list for holiday gift-giving and to wrap up the old year.

• American Library Association: 2010 Notable Children's Books
  Each year a committee of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) identifies the best of the best in children's books.
• Amazon: Best of 2010: Top 100 Editors' Picks
  The Books editors at Amazon have chosen these books as keepers and worth telling people about. You can also view the Top 100 Customer Favorites (bestsellers).
• Children's Corner: Some favorite books from 2010
  Karen MacPherson, the children's/teen librarian at the Takoma Park MD Library who reviews books for the Scripps Howard News Service, has compiled a list of some of her favorites after reading hundreds of books for children and teens.
• Entertainment Weekly: The 10 Best Graphic Novels and Comics of 2010
  Staff writer Ken Tucker says "It was a good year for a wide array of comics collections and graphic novels."
• Library Journal: Best Books of 2010
  Not only do they have lists of their takes on the best books/cds/dvds by genre/format, but they have an overall Top Ten.
• MarketPlace: Kai Ryssdal's best business books of 2010
  Kai Ryssdal of American Public Media's MarketPlace radio program offers a selection of books that are interesting even for the non-business reader.
• National Post: The Best Books of 2010
  Check out the staff picks for best books at this Canadian Newspaper.
• National Science Teachers Association: Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K–12
  This 2011 list is in pdf format and will take a little time to download.
• New York Times: The 10 Best Books of 2010
  Five works of fiction and five of nonfiction. The comments at the end of Choosing the 10 Best Books of 2010 show that not everyone agrees with their choices!
• New York Times: 100 Notable Books of 2010
  The Book Review has made these selections from books reviewed in 2010. They also have lists of Notable Crime Books and Notable Children's Books of 2010.
• NPR: Best Books of 2010
  Lists of best books in a variety of categories: fiction, nonfiction, children's, poetry, mysteries, teen's, cookbooks, and more. Or you can view them all together.
• Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine: The Five Worst Cookbooks of 2010
  The PCRM picked out cookbooks that feature meaty, high-fat meals that promote obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
• Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Books we liked in 2010
  Check out Bob Hoover's Best Books as well as selections by the reading public (a selection of Post-Gazette book reviewers as well as dedicated readers).

  A list of favorite children’s science books from the past year.

• YALSA: Best Books for Young Adults
  A list for teens from the Young Adult Library Services Association. These are chosen in January so the new list for 2011 will be coming soon!
