This comprehensive site from the United States Census Bureau provides access to the data collected in the Decennial Census and the American Community Survey. Interactive maps of census data, American Factfinder, Quick Facts by state and other data tools can be accessed here.
Although initially centered on New York City, you can input your zipcode to find out the racial makeup, income, home values (increase/decline), and education levels of any neighborhood. Data is from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, based on samples from 2005 to 2009.

In a collaboration more than 70 years old, the Pittsburgh Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) generously created sponsored an endowment that allows the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to offer the complete range of journals published by the ACS. While citation access is available to anyone, full-text and complete archival or back-issue access is available at the Main Library. The Internet Bird Collection (IBC) is a non-profit endeavour with the ultimate goal of disseminating knowledge about the world's avifauna. Why not just search the Web?

You can log into most of the databases listed below from outside the library using your library barcode number. Go to Get a Library Card if you don't have one. Databases specified with "No Remote Access" must be used from a computer within the library. "Remote Access (CLP Card)" databases are only accessible with a Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) library card. Databases for non-CLP cardholders.
