- Braille writer
A standard Perkins brailler with six keys and spacebar for producing braille
- Electric braille typewriter
An IBM typewriter with a modified QWERTY keyboard that can produce grade
1 or grade 2 braille.
- Aladdin closed circuit television (CCTV)
Also known as a video magnifier, this CCTV enlarges printed material placed
under its camera up to 20 times the original size.
- Kurzweil 1000 Reading Machine
A computer system that scans printed materials and reads them aloud. It
also displays the scanned text on the computer's screen.
- MAGic for Windows Screen Enlargement
To improve access to the World Wide Web for those who are visuallly impaired,
this software enlarges both the text and graphics displayed on the computer's
- JAWS for Windows Screen Reading Software
Using a synthetic speech synthesizer, this software reads aloud the text
displayed on the computer screen while accessing the World Wide Web. A refreshable
braille display, the Braille Window, is available for those who prefer braille
output instead of the synthetic speech output.
