Social Media & Fundraising

Wednesday, October 23, 2013
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Social media is changing the way we do business today. But how do these tools fit into fundraising? It is increasing our ability to build relationships, understand volunteer and donor interests and provide a voice for advocates.

This session will introduce you to social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube and illustrate how they impact your fundraising. We will discuss:

• Social media guidelines your agency should have in place
• How to make viral fundraising requests, share news and promote events in real time
• How to use social media tools for prospect research
• How to fulfill your donors’ need for association via social media.

Attendees will learn how to determine which tools, out of the variety of social media resources available, are the most appropriate for their organization and how to build a successful social media strategy. We’ll look at how other nonprofits are currently using these tools to advance their mission and raise awareness and funds. Attendees will leave with information about free and paid tools for social media that they will be able to use at their own agencies.

The speaker, Dave Tinker, CFRE, is the Vice President of Advancement at ACHIEVA.
