Meet the Poet: Paola Corso Reading and Discussion

Saturday, September 28, 2013
2:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Paola Corso, an award-winning Pittsburgh author and Chatham University Lecturer, will read from her most recent poetry title The Laundress Catches Her Breath. The reading will be followed by a discussion and book signing.

The Laundress Catches Her Breath is a compelling collection of poetry that jerks us into the grimy world of factory and clothesline, and paints with exceptional skill, a picture of the struggle and anguish of finding meaningful work in an economically depressed city.

The Laundress Catches Her Breath won the 2013 Tillie Olsen Award for Creative Writing.

Along with poetry, Corso writes great works of fiction, all set in her native Pittsburgh where her Italian immigrant family worked in the steel mills.
