Cultivating Media Relations

Friday, July 19, 2013
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Despite growing reliance on social media, most nonprofit organizations (and their funders) value traditional media -- newspaper, television and radio coverage -- that adds credibility to their messages and causes. This practical, how-to session is based on current best practices and focuses on securing those “plum” placements in traditional media. You will learn to apply what you already know about building and sustaining relationships to land those coveted media placements for your organization year round. Class exercises will build your confidence.

This class will be helpful for those who are new to media relations or who need a "refresher" as well as committee and board members who are interested in understanding what it takes to land a great story!

Diane Wuycheck has 10 years' experience as a full-time corporate media relations manager/ spokesperson which included producing local TV and radio programs. For the past 10 years in private practice, she has focused on media relations and marketing communications for her diverse portfolio of clients, the majority of which are nonprofit organizations.

The fee to attend this program is $20 per person, which includes a light continental breakfast, and can be paid at the door with either cash or a check made payable to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. To register, please call the Foundation Center at 412-622-6277.
