Writing Our Stories : For Ourselves, For Our Families

Tuesday, June 18, 2013
6:30 PM - 7:45 PM

Have you ever resolved to keep a diary, write in your new journal every day or record your family's stories, yet found your good intentions slipping away? Join Jeanne Zell, English teacher and family therapist, for one, two or all three sessions of this introductory writing workshop.

Using tips, techniques and writings from her Personal Journal Writing class, Jeanne will guide us in getting started, gathering, organizing and most importantly getting the stories of our lives down on paper.

In her Personal Journal Writing groups, Jeanne draws on her education (English major from Clarion, Masters in American Studies from Notre Dame, Masters in Counseling from Indiana University) and experience (twenty years of private practice in Houston, Texas, creating a therapy process including writing for adult children of alcoholics and other survivors of trauma, neglect and abuse, including veterans.) A voracious reader but sporadic writer, she currently guides writing groups at Sewickley Library and at Masonic Village Senior Residence. Both groups have been together for over seven years, sharing their stories, with lots of laughter, some tears and the joy of connecting.
