Gardening Thyme - Urban Chickens : Backyard Basics

Saturday, June 15, 2013
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Have you ever thought about keeping chickens but didn't know where to start? We'll cover all of your basics. We'll cover legal and zoning issues, how to figure out what kind of chicken you might want to get (there are over 60 breeds, with different characteristics, personalities, and utilities!), where you get them, their housing and care needs, and health issues. Plus we'll have a small assortment of purebred chickens, from the hardy egg layers that you can also eat to the purely ornamental for you to pet, feed, or hold at the end of the program.
