The People's University: The Year of Living Simply: A Modern-Day Walden
Saturday, September 15, 2012
| Other Dates
3:00 PM
- 5:00 PM
Inspired by Henry David Thoreau’s Walden, David M. King dropped out of school in 1983 and spent the next year hitchhiking, sleeping in cemeteries and homeless shelters, and living in a teepee. His purpose was to live as simple a life as he could and to discover the true necessities of a fulfilled life. Drawing from passages in Walden and his own journal entries, King will discuss how the experience changed his life, and how his views have evolved in the nearly thirty years since.
