The Big Read Kickoff Celebration and Reception

Help kick off The Big Read, a month-long series of events that promote reading, literacy and community engagement, all focusing on Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451. Dr. Jonathan R. Eller, Director of the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Center for Ray Bradbury Studies, will be the keynote speaker. Other speakers include Dr. Curtiss Porter from the Pittsburgh's mayor's office and leaders from the Community College of Allegheny College. In addition, CCAC dance students, Urban Pathways' Sounds of Steel and spoken word artist Ezra Smith will also perform. Following the kickoff celebration, a reception with music and refreshments will be held on the First Floor of the Main Library.

The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. The Big Read in Pittsburgh is a project of the CCAC One College...One Community initiative.
