Getting Your Piece of the Pie: Individual Giving

Wednesday, May 14, 2014
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Everyone knows that the majority of charitable gifts come from individuals, and yet we continue to devote disproportionate amounts of time to seeking foundation grants and planning events. Maureen Mahoney Hill, CFRE, will discuss building stability and sustainability into your fundraising program by focusing on growing individual giving.

Takeaways will include:

• Understanding why individual giving should be your top fundraising priority and how a development audit can be helpful in improving your individual giving program.
• Discovering how to create a culture of giving within your organization.
• Learning the basic tools and techniques of a comprehensive individual giving program and how to incorporate them into your program
• Recognizing new strategies for identifying major/planned gift prospects and how to make the ask AND get the gift.

The speaker will be Maureen Mahoney Hill, CFRE, an independent consultant working with nonprofit organizations to build fundraising, communications and marketing capacity. Started in 2006, her practice specializes in planning and strategy development for major and planned gifts. With more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, Maureen has held development positions with The Children’s Institute, The Pittsburgh Foundation, Penn State and The Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh. Maureen currently serves as an instructor for the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management at Robert Morris University, teaching classes on planned giving. A Certified Fund Raising Executive, Maureen holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Development from Penn State and a master’s from the School of Social Work at Pitt.

The fee to attend this program is $20 per person, which includes a light continental breakfast, and can be paid at the door with cash or check made payable to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. To register, please call the Nonprofit Resource Center at 412-622-6277.
