Steampunk Novelist Visits CLP

Behemoth by Scott Westerfield

Eighty-five Library customers interacted with renowned steampunk author Scott Westerfeld on October 7. Westerfeld visited the Main Library in Oakland as part of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Behind the Book: Authors Talk to Teens lecture series and brought free copies of his newest novel, Behemoth, sequel to his widely popular 2009 novel Leviathan. The steampunk genre is a blend of science fiction and alternate history that has become very popular among young adult readers. Considered one of the best steampunk novelists, Mr. Westerfeld is the author of the New York Times Bestselling Uglies series. His other novels include The Last Days, So Yesterday and the Midnighters trilogy.

Behind the Book: Authors Talk to Teens is an ongoing program made possible by a generous grant from PPG Industries Foundation.
